Oh Look, Krill!

Oh don't worry. Whales don't eat clownfish, they eat krill.

Things I Need To Remember

I need to remember that I was the one who wanted to enrol for grad school. No one forced me, so I shouldn’t be complaining so much about it.

I need to remember that as much as my sisters annoy me sometimes, they’re still family and that despite everything, I actually love those two annoying brats.

I need to remember that I’m already bordering on being severely underweight for my height, and sometimes wanting to look like the skinny girls is very, very bad.

I need to remember that coffee isn’t really all that good for me, despite the fact that I love how it tastes.

I need to remember that I need to go out and hang out with my friends once in a while.

I need to remember that taking a break is good, just as long the break isn’t the entire day and my to do list just keeps piling.

I need to remember to go say hi to my granny and tell her how much I love her. Every day.

Hopes And Wants For 2012

I hope that this coming year will be better all around; filled with happiness, love, peace and riches.

I hope for no more family drama of whatever sort.

I hope that the classes at school won’t be too hectic and difficult.

I hope that the rest of my project will go smoothly so that I can finally graduate this year.

I hope to still have a job when I come back from my extended leave.

I want to start swimming again.

I want, really want to graduate so that I don’t have to pay school fees or think about the project anymore.

I want to write again; to write stories of love, of monsters and ghosts.

Most importantly, I hope and want this year to be amazing.

Reading List for 2012

In the past month, I’ve been compiling a list of things that I’d like to read and re-read in 2012. I’m not sure what I my schedule is going to be like but I’m going to try and complete as much of the list as possible.

So in random order, here’s my list:

1. Waking the Witch, Kelley Armstrong.

2. Spellbound, Kelley Armstrong

3. The Lost Heroes, Rick Riordan

4. The Son of Neptune, Rick Riordan

5. The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins

6. Catching Fire, Suzanne Collins

7. Mockingjay, Suzanne Collins

8. The entire collection of Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

9. The Hobbit, J.R.R. Tolkien

10. Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien

This is what I have so far but I may add to the list when I come up with more books to read. Do you have a reading list? What’s yours?

10 Things That I’ve Never Done.

1. I’ve never been to Pulau Ubin. Really, I haven’t. I’ve been to Kusu Island, St John’s Island and Pulau Hantu but not Ubin; and for an environmental student, that’s pretty strange.

2. I’ve never driven on the express way before and I’ve gotten my drivers licence since 2008. In fact, I’ve only ever driven once since I passed.

3. I’ve never had an alcoholic drink.

4. I’ve never tried illegal drugs (even though I had ample opportunity when I was in uni, if I’d just asked).

5. I’ve never roasted meat before. Chicken doesn’t count. I’m talking about red meat.

6. I’ve never paid utility bills ever in my life, even though I’ve stayed on my own for a while. Staying in student accommodations in uni, I only paid rent and internet usage. I didn’t have to worry about the water and electricity bills.

7. I’ve never tried sashimi before.

8. I’ve never watched a midnight showing of a movie.

9. I’ve never stayed out the whole night and return home in the wee hours of the morning or after the sun is up.

10. I’ve never successfully baked a cake in my adult life.

30 Before 30

It hit me today that in 2011, I’ll be turning 30. Gah! I only turned 29 last September! While randomly blog-hopping, I found that there is something called The 30 Before 30 Project, where you make a list of things that you want to do before you’re 30.

Since I’m a big fan of lists and that my 30th birthday is only 9 months away, I’m going to make a list of things that I can do within the next 9 months. I just hope that it’s not too ambitious.

1. Roast a chicken properly.

2. Recreate the supposedly awesome green curry that I made once before.

3. Write a little every day, even if it’s just a sentence or two.

4. Read at least 10 previously unread books.

5. Go without caffeine for a day (and we all know that it’s is going to be awesomely difficult for me).

6. Pack lunch from home at least 1 day a week.

7. Print out some of the digital pictures that I’ve taken over the last five years.

8. Practice the ukulele more often to be at least not so horrible sounding when I play.

9. Pick up inline skating and get good enough to join the roller derby.

10. Spend a weekend museum hopping.

11. Take more pictures with family, friends and loved ones.

12. Complete at least one half-finished NDS game.

13. Spend a day at the Botanical Gardens to explore the gardens with a guide or guidebook.

14. Finish some the half read books in the pile.

15. Expand my reading genre to those that I would not normally read.

16. Learn how to sew, even if it’s just a tiny drawstring bag.

17. Bake a cake successfully.

18. Spend a day out with my girlfriends to catch up.

19. Go for a short holiday without the family, just friends.

20. Organise a tea party picnic with friends, complete with scones, nice teacups and dresses or skirts.

21. Learn to swim free style.

22. Go cycling/trekking at Pulau Ubin.

23. Make roast beef.

24. Have a steak made with love.

25. Send a friend a snail mail, just because.

26. Take a picture a day.

27. Start a Calisthenics programme for myself.

28. Go for a guided nature walk

29. 5 trade compilations of comics.

30. Have a Nerf war with a group of friends.

Hopes And Wants For 2011

I hope that the coming year will be an awesome one, filled with love, happiness and blessings, not just for me but also all my loved ones.

I hope to find more time to write not just short stories but also longer, series/novel length stories to make up for my failure to complete NaNoWriMo last year.

I’m hoping for the coming projects, both for school and work, to go smoothly.

I hope for personal growth and discovering my strengths and weaknesses and work on them.

I hope to go for basic SCUBA diving lessons and at get certified some time within the next year.

I want to tone up, strengthen my body and stamina as I’ve neglected that part of my health for too long. Also, one needs to have a toned up bod if one wants to cosplay as Cassandra Cain or Batwoman.

I want to take up skating being it roller blades or the quad since I want to join the local roller derby.

I want to start swimming again and learn the free style since I can only do the breast stroke and very slowly at that.

I want to make time to start cooking again. It’s been too long and I’m somewhat out of practice.

I want to make a little time to catch up my readings, both for work, school and recreational.

I want to spend more quality time with my loved ones.

Most of all I hope that it’ll be an awesome, wonderfully happy year.

What do you hope for or want in 2011?
