Oh Look, Krill!

Oh don't worry. Whales don't eat clownfish, they eat krill.

Ode To The Adventure Crew: Age Is Only A Number

You’re as young as you think you are.

I’m not ashamed to say that I’m 28, an unmarried, part-time student, full-time lab rat.

Most of my peers are either:
a) in grad school getting their PhD
b) working some high flying job, and I’m not just talking about the air steward/ess
c) married with/out kids
d) being responsible, practical adults

Me, I’m in a job that mostly makes me sad and grumpy, struggling through my grad school classes, juggling responsibilities and other shit that comes with being a tax paying adult. It can make one feel old before your time.

The ones that make me feel young again are my Adventure Crew; Seriously Sarah, Raven Silvers, Joelyn Alexandra and Avariel. They’re all younger than me by a few years at least but they don’t make me feel old at all. Well, except for some bits but generally, they make me feel like I’m in my early 20s again.

They’re fun to be with, adventurous and the few people that I can totally geek out with, without feeling like the odd one out. Conversation topics can jump from chocolate cake, to dominatrix Barney the Purple Dinosaur in a heartbeat, peppered with various books/movies/games references. All of them have their own special interests and that brings in an interesting mix information to what ever is being talked about. It’s fun!

It’s because of them, that I learn about and pick up new things that I would never have thought I would do either on my own or with the friends I made prior to getting to know them. I have people to talk books with, ask about games suggestions and basically hangout and drink copious amounts of caffeine while trying to complete a novel in a month.

So thank you guys for having adventures with me. Thank you for not making me feel old. Thank you for making my life wonderfully interesting. See you on the next adventure.
