Oh don't worry. Whales don't eat clownfish, they eat krill.

What Does One Do When The Significant Other Leaves?

Catch a show, meet new people and go fondle some books.

My sisters and I gate crashed were invited the Complain Choir show at the Arts House on Saturday along with a few Pingsters; rinaz, chillycraps, NTT and nicole. It was a good performance and seriously, everyone should go and watch.

After the performance, we ended up at Geek Terminal. It was my first time meeting Ping.sg members and it was fun. They’re funny and fun people. I’m very, very glad that I got to meet up with them after all those months of interacting with them in the Shoutbox.

Then I tried out the coffee and my head exploded. The Pingsters let me try the coffee and then gave me a disclaimer. They said that once you’ve had coffee over there, no where else will match up. I seriously think that they’re right. The coffee wasn’t only amazing, it was pretty too. Pictures courtesy of NTT.

Ain’t it pretty?!

After that, my sister and I went to fondle some books at Borders and Kinokuniya. It’s been a long while since the last time I went to a big bookstore and my hands were getting itchy from it. In the end I bought three books from Borders and another three books from Kinokuniya.

Books to read, amazing coffee and cool people. All in all, it was a great day for me.

Things I Saw Today

1. The Budget Terminal: It was my first time being there and when they said ‘no frills airport’, they really meant no frills. It was bare except for the seats, the weighing station and counters. There was a section for overpriced food that people didn’t really take notice and the GST refund places. That’s about it. At least they had some shops in the waiting area inside.

2. A lesbian couple on the train. One of them was still in school uniform. They drew a few stares of course, not that actually cared. I wonder if they would have been more stares if it was a gay couple instead?

3. The bluest, almost cloudless sky I’ve seen outside of Australia.

4. A no patterned foam flat white. It still tasted good though, and relatively cheap too.

My Love Hate Relationship With The Airport

When I was a child, I thought that the airport was a magical place to go. I remember being totally excited when my parents suggested that we go to the airport (I can’t remember why though) because that meant that I get to go out of the house. Also, the airport meant that I get to see aeroplanes and so many different kinds people. It was fun.

As I grew older, I realised that going to the airport meant that people were leaving me behind, to experience new things while I was stuck here with the same old stuff. My excitement became envy and I didn’t enjoy going to airport as much anymore. I didn’t like being left behind while other people went off and did more interesting things, different things. It burnt my gut.

Then when I hit my twenties, going to the airport took on a different feel; when my love hate relationship with the airport really began. Each trip to the airport meant either one of two emotions, unadulterated joy or heartbreaking sadness. Then there’s the separation anxiety. Don’t you hate being separated from your loved ones? But when they return, it’s like the best thing in the world. The joyful high I feel when they return is better than any sugar high I’ve ever had.

However, tomorrow would be another one of those sad moments of separation and I hate it. HATE IT! I hate being on two different continents, the stupid daylight savings hours difference but what choice is there. I just hope that the time will fly by and before I know it, it’s time to go to the airport for their return.
