You want the best for them, even if it means that your heart hurts because you know how much it means for them to go to grad school. Even if you want to cry, to make them understand that you don’t want them to go, to make them stay here with you, you know you can’t. And you wouldn’t because love isn’t just about being together, it’s also about compromise and some sacrifices. Somethings don’t come easy, so the hardship/inconvenience just makes you treasure it more.
You’ll slap on a happy face and try not to cry when you send them off at the airport, even though you know that you’ll cry anyway, and embarrass yourself and them. You just hope that they’ll be safe and happy, and that they won’t forget about you.
Sigh. Long-distance relationships suck eggs.
